Steven M. Jacobson, EA

Steve has over fifteen years of experience preparing personal, business, and clergy tax returns.  He is an Enrolled Agent and can represent clients with the Internal Revenue Service all the way up to tax court.

Steve began his career working as a regional manager for a tax firm based in Buffalo, New York.  That firm had a clergy following which began his attraction to clergy tax law.

After he met his wife, Steve moved to Princeton, New Jersey in 2014 so that Erin could attend seminary.  In his first year in Princeton Steve had taken a job as a tax accountant at a large CPA firm.  During that time, he met with many seminarians and clergy and learned how underserved and overcharged those in the ministry profession truly are when it comes to their taxes.  While working for other firms was enjoyable, Steve felt a call to serve clergy.  He wanted to provide them with a quality tax return at an affordable price.  With the help of his wife, they formed Jacobson Clergy Tax Service in 2015.

Steve’s knowledge and experience extends far beyond clergy tax preparation.  He currently consults with churches, non-profits, and other faith-based entities by providing advisement on proper minister compensation and payroll.  Steve does this with providing both one-on-one consultations as well as speaking engagements with clergy and those that work in religious finance.
